Project Snapshot: Chelsea Intermediate School
High winds made their presence known in the Chicago suburbs earlier this year, and they left their mark on the Franklin School District’s Chelsea Intermediate School. The wind event delaminated a large section of the school’s EPDM roof system, separating the roof membrane and insulation. This level of damage meant the district had to consider a roof replacement for this area of the roof.
Ridgeworth Roofing was the successful bidder on this project’s base bid and included various alternates for additional roof areas. The Ridgeworth team removed the damaged EPDM roof system and disposed of all debris. They then inspected and replaced all damaged or wet insulation and refastened as needed. The team installed a new Derbigum USA two-ply modified bitumen roof system and also replaced all roof-related architectural sheet metal, pipe and ductwork supports. The new roof carries a Derbigum 30-year labor and material warranty to ensure customer satisfaction for years to come.
Bad weather, the cause of this project, continued to rear its ugly head throughout the process. Rain and severe weather were continuous threats to project progress. Ridgeworth Roofing’s experts forged ahead with safety always in mind, completing the project while keeping the interior of the building dry throughout.
Ridgeworth is proud to have worked on the Chelsea Intermediate School project and wishes the students, faculty, and staff there a great 2017-2018 school year.
