Project Overview

Ridgeworth Roofing has enjoyed a positive long-term relationship with the Riverside School District, having bid successfully on several public-bid projects and handled emergency repairs and general roof maintenance for the district over the years.

The district had planned additions to three schools and a small mechanical upgrade at a fourth school, and DLA Architects prepared plans and specifications for each building. Ridgeworth prepared pricing for the entire project in late December 2019 and was the successful bidder.

Logistics at each jobsite were complex, with limited access for the variety of trades working on the project and sharing the space. This required some thorough and careful consideration and planning. In addition, the scope of the project was considerable, given the fact that each of the three buildings receiving additions had a different roof system planned, ranging from a Garland multiple ply modified utilizing hot asphalt to an EPDM system set in adhesives. Ridgeworth’s project scope also included temporary roofs to keep the buildings dry throughout the project timeline. Ridgeworth’s project manager, Ryan Petrick, attended numerous meetings prior to the start of the project to prepare appropriately. Ryan’s attention to detail proved essential for this work.

The three buildings receiving additions were each nearly 100 years old, which added to the project some commonplace issues one would expect with buildings of this age. Ryan worked with onsite superintendents for the general contractor, Berglund Construction, and with the architect assigned to each facility, to offer some common-sense solutions and move the roofing portion of the project forward. In some cases, the Ridgeworth team’s expertise in out-of-the-box thinking helped overcome some unforeseen conditions as construction continued. Ridgeworth is particularly thankful to John Sandula from Berglund Construction, who kept everyone informed and adjusted the schedule as needed to keep the projects on track.

The Ridgeworth team finished the project on time and within budget, even in the face of challenging logistics and numerous trades all working onsite at the same time. Ridgeworth Roofing is proud to have completed another project for the school district and looks forward to their continued relationship.
