Project Overview
Ridgeworth Roofing had been providing ongoing maintenance and roof repairs for the roof of Van Bruggen Signs, Inc.’s Orland Park facility, keeping the inside of the building dry for years. Recently, though, the approximately 25-year-old roof system was entering its final stages of serviceability.
“The roof was leaking in multiple areas,” says owner Sam Van Bruggen. “It had been repaired multiple times and continuing to repair just was not prudent anymore.”
Having had a relationship with Ridgeworth for more than ten years, Sam requested pricing and options to replace the older roofs at their main location. Ridgeworth provided a variety of options and discussed the details of the project with Sam, as well as what to expect during a complete roof replacement—not a small project by any stretch of the imagination.
“Working with Ridgeworth was a very good experience,” says Sam. “They answered the questions we had about the proposal, explored options, and ultimately were able to respond quickly in scheduling the work once we decided to move ahead.”
With the staff of Van Bruggen Signs working beneath them uninterrupted, Ridgeworth replaced the roof deck and removed existing equipment from the roof surface. They replaced the failing roof systems with a new Johns Manville .060 TPO roof system, which raises the LTTR values to the LTTR=30.0 required by the code.
“We caught a break with some good weather so Ridgeworth installed a new roof at a time of the year that might normally not be possible or preferred,” says Sam. “The crews worked in a way that had very little negative impact on our daily operations.”
With the completed roof system, the Van Bruggens should have a leak-free facility for many years to come.
“I would recommend Ridgeworth to others and actually have already done so,” says Sam.
